Mentally preparing women for promotion to higher-level positions

The Promotion Package

Promoting diversity and improved awareness in the faculty recruitment context

Strengthened program of training in "unconscious bias"

Under the MEXT Initiative for Realizing Diversity in the Research Environment (Surveys and Analyses), in 2020, Nagoya University was selected as the representative institution, along with Gifu University and the National Women’s Education Center as joint implementing institutions, to develop a training program video on the topic of “unconscious bias.” Additionally, it was mandated that all faculty members and employees at Nagoya University attend the lectures in this program, while the training video was released to a nationwide audience.
Under the support program, this training program will continue to be fully utilized. Moreover, through actions to reinforce methods for its implementation, the program can be expected to lead to growth in the numbers of female researchers and upper-level positions held by women.

Strengthened utilization of the Faculty Recruitment Manual

As with the aforementioned training program in unconscious bias, under the MEXT Initiative for Realizing Diversity in the Research Environment (Surveys and Analyses), a faculty recruitment manual for the promotion of diversity in the university setting has also been developed and released. At Nagoya University, the Council on Education and Research decided to recommend the utilization of this recruitment manual.
Through steps aimed at reinforcing the methods for utilization of this manual, the program can be expected to lead to growth in the numbers of female researchers and upper-level positions held by women.

Initiative to increase the number of female researchers through subsidy support for the employment of specially appointed female faculty members

Nagoya University provides subsidy funding to cover departmental costs associated with new recruitments of specially appointed female faculty members. Moreover, additional funds through designated funding resources are available to those departments that hire younger or foreign female researchers.
